Two people walk into a doctor's office on the same day. Both are 52. Both eat reasonably well. Both exercise a few times a week.

Research has shown that low cardiovascular fitness carries a greater mortality risk than diabetes, heart disease, or smoking. And unlike many genetic factors, VO2 max is trainable at any age, at any starting point.

→ Resting heart rate trends over time
→ Heart rate recovery after exertion
Zone 2 cardio (sustained effort where you can still hold a conversation) builds your aerobic base. High-intensity intervals push your ceiling higher. Consistency matters more than intensity when you're starting out. And measurable improvement can show up within weeks, not years.

Your birthday tells you how long you've been alive. Your biological age tells you how well your body is aging. And the gap between the two is shaped almost entirely by systems you can measure and change.
